Man arrested in fatal east Las Vegas shooting

An altercation escalated into a shooting Sunday night in northeast Las Vegas, leaving a man dead and the suspected gunman in jail, according to Metro Police.

Steven Jones, 43, was booked today into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of murder, police said.

The shooting was reported shortly after 7 p.m. in the 4500 block of Townwall Street, near Craig Road and Nellis Boulevard.

The victim, who allegedly was shot by Jones, died inside a residence, police said.

It wasn’t clear where Jones was arrested and police did not release additional information about a possible motive.

The victim will be identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
