The Golden Knights had just polished up a thrilling 5-4 win against the Anaheim Ducks and looked to be feeling pretty good. Then the bad news.

Vegas canceled its postgame press conference on Tuesday citing COVID-19. The press conferences are held virtually this season, and there were no indications of what had happened.

“Due to COVID-19 protocols, tonight's Vegas Golden Knights postgame media availability is canceled," the team said in a statement.

Not much was out of the ordinary after the game. The team left the ice and went to the dressing room like normal. Typically emails are sent to media and press conferences begin roughly 10 minutes after the end of the game with coach Pete DeBoer and select players.

The Golden Knights also canceled Wednesday's practice, and said they will not be holding any media availability to answer questions.

The Ducks' postgame press conference started with forward Troy Terry, who took questions for about eight minutes, then the team canceled it after he was finished. There is no further update from Anaheim's side.

The Golden Knights had three games postponed recently after a coach tested positive on Jan. 26 and defenseman Alex Pietrangelo was placed on the NHL’s “COVID Protocol Related Absences” list later in the week.

Pietrangelo was the only player to go on the list at that time; he returned to practice Tuesday. Earlier today, everyone on the Golden Knights was cleared for the first time since Jan. 26.

The Golden Knights are scheduled to play the Ducks again at 7 p.m. Thursday at T-Mobile Arena, then have a road game in San Jose on Saturday before returning home Sunday for a game with the Avalanche. Those games are still on as of Tuesday night.
