A woman hospitalized in critical condition after she was hit by a car Saturday in Henderson has died, according to police.

Jessica Lesmeister, who was in a medically induced coma at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, died Thursday afternoon, her fiance, David Thummel, said.

Lesmeister was walking before 5:45 p.m. Saturday near Foothill and Bridle drives when she was hit by a passing car, Henderson Police said.

Lesmeister, 32, suffered a head injury, multiple strokes and a broken leg, Thummel said.

On Sunday, she was placed in a medically induced coma and was breathing with the help of a ventilator, he said.

Thummel, who shares a 4-year-old son with Lesmeister, was not allowed to see her at the hospital because of of coronavirus restrictions, he said.

Lesmeister donated her organs to help others, Thummel said.

The suspected driver of the car, Ian Benjamin Acklin, 23, was arrested at his home after the incident, police said.

Acklin, who faces a count of DUI, posted $20,000 bail on Wednesday, according to Henderson Justice Court logs.

A GoFundMe account was established to help pay Lesmeister's medical expenses.
