The last time UNLV won a football game was November of 2019. Now we know when the scarlet and gray will get their next chance, as the team’s 2021 schedule was released in full on Friday.

UNLV will play its season opener on Sept. 2 against Eastern Washington, and that could be fans’ first opportunity to experience Allegiant Stadium after the new home of UNLV football was closed to spectators last year due to COVID-19. Marcus Arroyo’s squad went 0-3 at home and 0-6 overall in his first year at the helm.

After the opener, UNLV will play non-conference games at Arizona State (Sept. 11) and vs. Iowa State (Sept. 18) before traveling to Fresno State (Sept. 25) for the first Mountain West tilt. They’ll conclude the non-conference slate the following week at UTSA (Oct. 2) before jumping into the MWC slate full-time.

One aspect of the schedule that should make fans happy is the placement of the in-state rivalry game against UNR, which will be played on Nevada Day weekend (Oct. 30). UNR reclaimed the Fremont Cannon last year by virtue of a 37-19 win at Allegiant Stadium.

Thanks to the yearly rotation, UNLV will avoid a matchup with Boise State this season. Colorado State and Wyoming are the other Mountain West teams that UNLV won’t have to deal with in 2021.

The schedule concludes with a game at Air Force on Nov. 27.
