Cimarron hoping to ‘make a run out of’ playoff berth

Michael Sabina passed for five touchdowns tonight for the Cimarron-Memorial football team in a 46-6 victory over visiting Sunrise Mountain.

Andrew Overland and Arnold Anderson each had two scoring receptions for the Spartans, while Jayden Johnson had a short touchdown run and Isiah Feathers had a safety. Jyren Westbrooks added an interception return for a score.

Cimarron advances to play Sierra Vista in next week’s playoff opener.

“It’s obviously been a while since Cimarron was in the playoff, so it is great to be back,” coach Shane Kanie said. “Hopefully we can make a run out of it. I love these kids and how they have worked.”
