Jason Burns had an interception return for a touchdown tonight to help the Legacy football team earn a playoff spot with a 24-14 win against Palo Verde.

Andre Williams rushed for a touchdown for the Longhorns, and Curtis Lindsey had a touchdown pass to Rontae Barrow.

“We show up every day and we haven’t quit,” first-year Legacy coach Zach Monticelli said. “We are getting better every week and it is starting to show.”

Legacy plays defending state champion Liberty next week to open the playoffs. Liberty beat the Longhorns 48-7 earlier in the season.

“You can’t be scared. They are a good team, but so are we. They have to play us, too,” Monticelli said.
