Liberty begins title defense with win over Legacy

Germie Bernard returned a kickoff for a touchdown and added a receiving score tonight for the Liberty football team in 57-6 victory against Legacy to open the playoffs.

The defending state champion Patriots also had an interception return for a touchdown from Isaiah Hampton, and scoring receptions from Anthony Jones (5 yards), Logan Britt (10 yards) and Evan Hillard (60 yards).

“We played really well in that we didn’t have a drop-off from last week with execution and effort,” coach Rich Muraco said. “We need to keep that rolling into next week.”

Liberty advances to face Arbor View next Friday.
