Jaxon Young returned the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown Friday night for the Durango High football team in a 28-0 win against neighborhood rival Spring Valley.
“When you get a big play like that right away it takes a lot of pressure off the team,” Durango coach Toby Henry said.
Young also scored on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Maverik Cormier, and Daurell Ilaoa had a 5-yard touchdown run.
Defensively, end Andre Washington had a 50-yard interception return for a score.
“I like the way our defense is playing right now,” Henry said. “They are playing lights out.”
