Nelson Jimenez passed for four touchdowns today for the Chaparral High football team in a 28-16 victory against visiting Eldorado in the annual Cleat Game.

It was also the first Chaparral win of the season.

“The kids have been working hard. We got the win tonight. It’s always good to keep the cleat,” coach Don Willis said.

Chaparral built a 21-0 lead, but Eldorado stormed back to make things interesting and trailed just 21-16 entering the fourth quarter. That’s when Michael Diggs had an interception return for a touchdown “to seal the win,” Willis said.

Diggs also had a pair of receiving touchdowns. Jeremiah Jones and Justin Hydel also scored for the Cowboys, who improved to 1-2 on the season. They had been shutout in both of their previous games.

“We showed some improvement tonight, but we still have some things to work on,” Willis said.
