Coach: Liberty still hasn’t played its best football

Jayden Maiava completed 16 of 21 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns to lead Liberty to a 48-7 victory against visiting Legacy.

Germie Bernard had a 69-yard touchdown reception, Brody Clark had two catches for 56 yards and score, and Marques Johnson also had a scoring reception.

Running back Isaiah Lauofo, promoted from the junior varsity for the game, had three rushing touchdowns.

Liberty, the defending state champions, opens league play next week.

“We still haven’t played our best football yet,” coach Rich Muraco said. “There are still some things we need to fix.”
