A cast member of a popular cable television show was killed in a crash Sunday near Las Vegas, the Clark County Coroner’s Office said today, confirming a report by TMZ.

Ryan Fellows of the Discovery Channel’s “Street Outlaws: Fastest in America” died after a crash outside Las Vegas early Sunday, according to TMZ.

Fellows, 41, of Chula Vista, Calif., died about 2:40 a.m. Sunday in a desert area near Las Vegas Boulevard North and the Harry Allen Generating Station, the Clark County Coroner’s Office said.

Metro Police said the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration was investigating the crash. A NOSHA spokeswoman could not be reached for comment.

Fellows was racing another driver in the eighth of nine races scheduled for the night, TMZ reported. He was driving a gold Nissan 240z and lost control near the end of the race, TMZ reported.

The car rolled and caught fire, according to the TMZ report. Onlookers were unable to get him out of the car, TMZ said.

“The Street Outlaws family is heartbroken by the accident that led to the tragic death of Ryan Fellows,”Discovery said in a statement. “We extend our deepest sympathy to Ryan’s loved ones as they process this sudden and devastating loss.”

A GoFundMe campaign for Fellows started Monday had raised nearly $19,000 of its $50,000 goal as of 11 a.m. today.

Fellows was “admired for tenacity and a relentless drive to overcome the challenges before him. … The family will need help with the next steps of grief and living life after losing the heart and soul of their family,” the fundraiser’s organizer, Brad Sparks, said

Fellows is survived by his wife, Liz, son, Josiah, 18, and daughter Olivia, 10, Sparks said.
