Treyshaun Jackson had a special teams touchdown for the second straight game, and Desert Pines rolled to a 42-0 win over Canyon Springs on Friday night.

The freshman Jackson returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown, one of two special teams scores for the Jaguars. Isaiah Rubin also ran a punt back 45 yards for a score.

Desert Pines (1-1) bounced back after losing 21-14 to Orem (UT) last week. Jackson had one of those touchdowns on a kickoff return. The Jaguars defense took out their frustration on the Pioneers with 10 sacks.

"All three facets showed up tonight," Desert Pines coach Tico Rodriguez said. "They got after it."

Senior quarterback Marquis Roby threw and ran for a touchdown, and freshman Massiah Mingo caught a 30-yard score.

"We were a little sluggish in the first quarter. We played a little sloppy," Rodriguez said. "And then the kids just focused up and the second quarter, we really started exploding. They were frustrated all week with that tough loss to Orem. We felt like we let that one slip away."

Canyon Springs (1-1) struggled to build off the impressive 18-14 win over Arcadia (CA) last week in its season opener.

The Jaguars host Legacy next Friday.
