Pedestrian hit by car, killed crossing street in Las Vegas

A pedestrian who was crossing a street in the east valley Sunday night was hit by a car and killed, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 9:20 p.m. on Nellis Boulevard, north of Flamingo Road, police said.

The pedestrian, a 50-year-old Las Vegas man, was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk when the car hit him, police said.

The man, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver, a 24-year-old Las Vegas man, was not injured, police said. He showed no signs of impairment and remained at the scene, police said.

Two passengers in the car, a 24-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman, both from Las Vegas, were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with injuries, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
