Nine people were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries after an 11-vehicle crash on U.S. 95 outside of Boulder City, according to Nevada State Police.

Boulder City officials reported the crash, near a solar panel farm, might have been caused by brown-out conditions from blowing dust. They issued an alert about the wreck shortly after noon.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Las Vegas area until 8 p.m., projecting gusts of up to 50 mph.

The highway was closed in the area of the crash, and southbound traffic was being diverted through Kingman, Ariz., state police said. Northbound traffic was being diverted to Nipton Road.

Police advised motorists to expect heavy delays. Boulder City Police were assisting state police, and firefighters treated injured people at the scene, officials said.
