Las Vegas High quarterback Elijah Espinoza was injured tonight for the Wildcats game with Cimarron-Memorial.

So, they went with Big Tanner and Little Tanner under center in a 37-22 win.

Freshman Tanner Vibabul rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another, and senior Tanner Merback passed for a touchdown as the Wildcats improved to 1-1 overall.

“We call them Big Tanner and Little Tanner. Both of them balled out,” coach Erick Capetillo said.

It helps having senior receiver Andrew Bowen, who caught both touchdown passes.

Las Vegas bounced back nicely after dropping their season opener 43-3 to Pine Creek, one of the best teams in Colorado.

“We went back to work. Got back to basics and made it simple,” Capetillo said
