Marquis Roby passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another tonight to lead the host Desert Pines football team to a 37-0 win over Legacy.
It was the second straight week Desert Pines didn’t allow any points against a class 5A opponent.
“We have a great, senior based defense,” coach Tico Rodriguez said. “And they played hard.”
Isiah Nickles, Trey Jackson and Massiah Mingo — all freshmen — had receiving touchdowns for the Jaguars. Junior Greg Burrell added a rushing score.
The most important stat for Rodriguez was penalties. Last week, the Jaguars had 19 — tonight they were flagged just seven times.
“They played hard and smart, and with more discipline,” the coach said.
