The Bishop Gorman football team didn’t need to worry about blowing a late lead this time against Hamilton of Arizona.

After all, time was moving too quickly.

Gorman led by more than 35 points in the second quarter against the visiting Phoenix-area school in the Polynesian Football Classic to trigger the mercy rule of a running clock for the rest of the game. There were few stoppages the rest of the way in a 45-0 win.

Three of Micah Alejado’s four touchdown passes went to Wisconsin commit Trech Kekahuna as Gorman got its revenge for a humbling defeat last year against Hamilton. The Gaels surrendered 17 points in the final minute of a one-point loss in 2021.

Alejado also connected with Elija Lofton on a 60-yard touchdown pass, and Micah Kaapana and Myles Norman had rushing touchdowns.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Gorman, who next week hosts Brookwood of Georgia in an ESPN televised game.
