The Desert Pines football team held a comfortable 40-point lead late in the fourth quarter tonight against visiting Foothill, giving coaches a chance to empty their bench and let all the players on the roster experience a game night.
The Jaguars wound up surrendering a long touchdown run in the final seconds of a 40-7 victory, preventing Desert Pines from recording a third straight shutout.
But what coach Tico Rodriguez says is most important is a third straight win.
“Our goal is to get better every week and we got better today,” he said.
Isaiah Rubin returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, and he later scored on a punt return as Desert Pines never trailed.
Freshman Massiah Mingo had a 60-yard touchdown reception from Marquis Roby, who also had a 20-yard rushing score. Greg Burrell and Tyrik Siméus added touchdowns.
