The Silverado football team’s undefeated season in 2021 had just one significant challenge: An 18-point win against Coronado.

Donavyn Pellot made sure the 2022 meeting between the class 4A contenders wasn’t as close, returning the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown on the way to a 43-0 Silverado win.

Coronado entered the showdown undefeated and expected to compete with defending state champion Silverado. Pellot and his teammates had other ideas, as Bryson Tunnell had a 77-yard interception return for a touchdown and brother Brandon Tunnell rushed and passed for a touchdown.

Caden Harris and Pellot had rushing scores, and Marcus Council had a receiving touchdown.
