The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of a convicted murderer whose escape from a state prison went unnoticed for several days.

U.S. Marshals are aiding the Nevada Department of Corrections and other law enforcement agencies in the manhunt for 42-year-old Porfirio Duarte-Herrera, the convicted murderer who escaped from a Nevada correctional center, last accounted for Friday.

Federal authorities are offering a combined $30,000 reward for information, according to a tweet from Metro Police later Wednesday. It wasn't clear whether the $5,000 from the U.S. Marshals was included in that total.

He was discovered missing from the Southern Desert Correctional Center in Indian Springs on Tuesday, after escaping Friday evening, corrections officials said.

“We will work tirelessly along with our law enforcement partners until Porfirio Duarte-Herrera is back in custody and no longer a danger to our community,” U.S. Marshal Gary Schofield said in a statement.

Duarte-Herrera was serving a life sentence in the bombing death of 24-year-old Willebaldo Dorantes Antonio on May 7, 2007, on the roof of the Luxor parking garage, authorities said. The bomb had been placed in a foam cup on the victim’s car, authorities said.

Duarte-Herrera was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, blue shirt and shorts and a navy blue backpack, according to another Metro Police tweet on Wednesday.
