Amere Swan’s 4-yard touchdown run in overtime Friday night gave the Canyon Springs football team an 18-12 win over visiting Mojave.

The game, arguably, should have never reached overtime.

Canyon Springs led 12-0 in the fourth quarter, but Mojave scored a touchdown and recovered an onside kick to bring the extra session. Along the way, Canyon Springs also had a touchdown called back that would have iced the game.

“The kids went through a lot of adversity to win that game,” coach Quincy Burts said. “The biggest thing was our defense. They kept turning them away.”

Major Pride scored Canyon Springs’ other touchdown on reception of about 40 yards.
