The Shadow Ridge football team scored three unanswered touchdowns to close the game Friday in a 21-7 victory at Spanish Springs of Northern Nevada.
Spanish Springs scored on its initial possession, and the Shadow Ridge defense was stingy the remainder of the game.
“It took us a bit to find our feet offensively, but defensively we played a (great) game,” coach Travis Foster said.
Kela Cox had an interception return for a touchdown in the second game to secure the win. Aaron Coverdell recovered a fumble for the Shadow Ridge defense, and Miki Poloa and Colin McGinnis each had a pair of sacks as part of a six sack effort.
Evan Cannon rushed for 172 yards on 29 carries, and Coen Coloma had a pair of touchdown runs.
“We knew we needed to gut through the first quarter after traveling up here and the kids not sleeping in their own bed,” Foster said.
