Defensive standout Maxx Crosby is impacting the Raiders in more ways than his performance on the field.

Crosby also has been a standout in the Las Vegas community, the team said. That’s why he is the Raiders’ nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.

The league’s 32 teams today revealed their nominees for the award that represents the NFL’s commitment to philanthropy and community impact. The winner will be announced during Super Bowl week at the NFL Honors awards show.

In a statement Crosby said, “The Raiders’ have a strong commitment to the community, and I share those values, so I take great pride in being nominated for such a prestigious award. Thank you to the Raiders and congratulations to all the nominees.”

Crosby has embraced the Make-A-Wish Foundation's game day experience, twice hosting children and their families for a behind-the-scenes experience at Raiders headquarters.

Additionally, Crosby and wife, Rachel, gave $1 million to his alma mater, Eastern Michigan University, for the expansion of facilities to enhance the student-athlete experience.

And on Global Impact Day, he served 600 youth from local nonprofit organizations.

Crosby also teamed with Raiders President Sandra Douglass Morgan to tape a 30-second public service announcement aimed at preventing human trafficking as part of the It’s a Penalty campaign.

As the team nominee, Crosby will wear the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year helmet decal through the end of the season.

He’ll look to continue his dominating ways. Crosby has the second-most tackles in the NFL amongst defensive lineman at 66, including 15 tackles for a loss. His 11.5 sacks are sixth-best in the league.
