Las Vegas police: Officers shoot robbery suspect who pulled gun

Officers shot and wounded a robbery suspect who pulled a gun Thursday night as they were trying to apprehend him, according to Metro Police.

The shooting happened about 11 p.m. as detectives were conducting surveillance on the suspect near South Valley View Boulevard and West Flamingo Road, police said.

As detectives attempted to apprehend the suspect, he produced a gun, prompting officers to discharge their weapons, police said.

The suspect was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, police said. He was in stable condition, police said.

“No officers or citizens were hurt during this officer-involved shooting,” Metro Capt. Joshua Martinez said.

It was the second officer-involved shooting of 2023. Per Metro policy, the identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours, police said.
