Faith Lutheran quarterback Alex Rogers hooked with up Cade Keith and Sean Sampson for touchdowns in the first half of tonight’s Class 5A-Division II Southern Regional title game to help the Crusaders beat visiting Green Valley, 37-0.

Green Valley dedicated extra defenders to stopping Faith Lutheran’s rushing attack in the first half and Rogers responded “by making a bunch of plays,” Faith Lutheran coach Mike Sanford said.

The Crusaders pulled away in the second half with touchdowns runs of 46 and 47 yards from junior Cale Breslin, earning a spot in the Class 5A-Division II state championship game Nov. 20 against Bishop Manogue of Reno. Breslin finished with 217 yards on 30 carries.

Caden Chittenden had three field goals for Faith Lutheran, which has won eight of its last nine games.

“We have played well and we are getting better, and that’s always a good thing,” Sanford said.
