The Golden Knights will have a new uniform combination when facing the Seattle Kraken on New Year’s Day in the NHL’s annual Winter Classic.

Adidas, the uniform partner of the NHL, said in a new release today that they were going for a vintage Vegas look in the design.

“(The uniform combination) imagines a Vegas hockey team in the look of the city’s early days,” the league and Adidas said in the combined news release.

“Viligree petal accent shapes and a looping decorative chain stitch have been added to the “V” and the player names and numbers. A new cursive “Vegas” wordmark complements the braiding and appears on the pants,” according to the release.

The players will also wear barber pole socks, which Adidas said will complete the old-school look.

"Drawing inspiration from the Wild West and cowboy era of the 1910s, Vegas’ Winter Classic jersey’s colors reflect the time period with the vintage white base, a deeper and richer gold used in the piping, and the felt fabric in the logo," the Golden Knights said in a statement.

One highlight of the look will be the cursive "Vegas" on the right leg of the gray pants, marking the first time the city name will be listed on the franchise's pants and helmet at the same time, the joint statement said.

The classic is outdoors at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, to mark the second time Vegas has played an outdoor game in its seven-year existence. In 2021, Vegas played Colorado outdoors in Lake Tahoe.
