The Palo Verde football team had waited two weeks to play this game.

It could have been Clark lining up across the field, or any other team in town, and the Panthers would have been ready to play, coach Joe Aznarez said.

The end result was a spirited 49-0 victory in the league opener on Thursday against Clark.

Palo Verde had its game two weeks ago canceled because of bad weather — lightning struck near the stadium after the coin toss to bring a cancellation. The Panthers also had their bye week.

“It was a long two weeks keeping the kids occupied,” Aznarez said. “It was definitely a challenge.”

Crew Daniels passed for three touchdown passes in the first half, hooking up twice with Furious Hoskins.

Jake Fields also had a receiving touchdown, while Cedric Cade Jr. added two rushing touchdowns. Kaiden Sayles had an interception return for a score.
