We are at the halfway point of the high school football season. Yes, that was fast.
Tonight’s slate of games included one of the state’s most notable rivalries as Chaparral came away with a 32-18 win over Eldorado in the 50th anniversary of the Cleat Game.
The schedule also includes one of the more interesting matchups of the modern era, with Arbor View visiting Desert Pines. Whether it’s a playoff game or regular season contest, the outcome usually isn’t decided until the end when the perennial powers meet. There’s tons of talent on each team.
Other games of note include Bishop Gorman visiting Silverado in a battle of defending state champions. Silverado won the past two Class 4A titles to be promoted to the large-school class, where powerhouse Gorman has won 13 of the past 15 championships and is projected to have an undefeated season.
In the Class 3A, SLAM Nevada looks to continue its dominating ways against Democracy Prep. SLAM, the state runner-up in 2022, is coming off an impressive blowout victory last week at Moapa Valley.
