Las Vegas police: Pedestrian hit, killed by car; driver arrested on DUI-related counts

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Sunday night, and the driver was arrested on DUI-related counts, according to Metro Police.

The incident was reported about 8:45 p.m. on Pecos Road, south of Maule Avenue, police said.

The car was headed north when it hit the pedestrian, who was crossing the street outside of any marked or implied crosswalk, police said.

The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name was not released, pending notification of family, police said.

The driver, a 28-year-old Las Vegas man, suffered minor injuries, police said. He showed signs of impairment and was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on DUI-related counts, police said.
