An officer-involved shooting occurred in an incident this afternoon, according to Metro Police.
Shortly after noon, officers responded to reports of a man armed with a long gun threatening to shoot people in an apartment complex in the 200 block of North 9th Street, the release stated.
Arriving officers told the man to drop the weapon. The suspect then pointed the gun at the officers who responded with gunfire, striking him.
The gunman was pronounced dead at the scene.
