Former CCSD assistant principal charged with soliciting minor for sex

Fri, Mar 22, 2024 (4:26 p.m.)

A former Clark County School District assistant principal was arrested in Texas on Friday on three counts of attempting to contact a minor for sex by a person of authority, according to a press release from the district.

Howard Hughes, 61, was on leave when he was arrested by the United States Marshal Service in Texas, officials said. Hughes, an assistant principal of Del E. Webb Middle School, was placed on leave after an investigation was initiated this month, and he has since resigned, according to the district. Hughes had worked for CCSD since 2022.

Hughes is the fifth CCSD employee arrested this week, which included a student success advocate arrested for having sex with a minor and a computer technician charged with illegal surveillance.
