Letter to the Editor:

DMV aims for smooth transition

Sat, May 4, 2024 (2 a.m.)

At the Nevada DMV, we’ve recently heard lots of feedback about the decision to relocate the Henderson location.

The new Silverado Ranch facility will still be equipped to handle all the needs of Henderson residents, especially with its easy and intuitive layout for customers. While we believe the facility — along with the services we’re preparing to move online — will comfortably serve customers, we understand that moving services farther away can be an inconvenience.

One solution we’re evaluating is expanding our partnerships within the automotive industry. AAA already provides access to most vehicle registration services, movement permits, license plate services, issuance of handicapped plates and placards, and it can process duplicate title orders — all at no additional charge, even for non-members. The DMV may also be able to have pop-up services at public locations at least once a week.

We’re also looking to maintain a smaller satellite office in the existing location with intent to train the public to use online tools and process driver’s license or identification transactions.

The DMV is allotted a percentage of the Nevada State Highway Fund to operate with, and it doesn’t stretch as far as it used to. However, the DMV is ready to assist customers in every way possible.

Rest assured that we are committed to finding an amenable solution for our agency and your community, and we’re looking forward to our partnership going forward.
