In a list compiled by Forbes, UNLV earned mention among the nation's most valuable college basketball teams.

Ranking the top 20, the Rebels checked in at No. 20, with a listed team value of $12.9 million and a profit of $8.3 million this year.

On last year's list, UNLV was No. 16.

UNLV is one of two programs from outside of the six power conferences listed, with the other being Xavier at No. 15.

No. 1 on the list was North Carolina (valued at $29 million), followed by Kentucky ($26.2 million), Louisville ($26 million), Kansas ($24 million) and Illinois ($20.8 million).

The four factors equated in determining the list include, in order of weight: 1) the value of contributions to the institution for academic purposes, including scholarships for basketball players; 2) the net profit generated by the basketball program retained by the athletic department; 3) the value contributed to conference peers via tournament revenue; 4) estimated direct spending by visitors to the county attributable to home basketball games.
