A domestic disturbance call early Sunday led to the discovery of $150,000 worth of marijuana plants, including some in a bedroom where children were sleeping, Metro Police said.

Officers responded about 3 a.m. to a home at 9501 Rancho Palmas Drive, near Charleston Boulevard in the western valley, for reports of a domestic disturbance between two brothers, police said.

Police discovered 100 hydroponic marijuana plants inside, with dozens of plants and chemicals surrounding a bed where an 8-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy slept, officials said.

Police arrested Frederica Ballard, 42, in connection with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and two counts of child endangerment. Her sons — Daniel, 23, and William Ballard, 22 — also were arrested in connection with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and two counts of domestic violence.

Frederica Ballard's two younger children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services, police said.

"These folks were more interested in making money than the safety of the children," said Lt. Laz Chavez, of Metro's narcotics unit.

Frederica, Daniel and William Ballard were booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

This marks the 11th marijuana grow house dismantled this year by Metro Police.
