Pedestrian critically injured in hit-and-run incident near the Stratosphere

Metro Police said a 50-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle that left the scene early this morning near the Stratosphere.

Authorities said the incident happened shortly before 3 a.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard between Baltimore and St. Louis avenues.

Police said the woman was crossing Las Vegas Boulevard from west to east when a vehicle southbound on Las Vegas Boulevard struck her, then fled the scene.

The pedestrian, identified as Las Vegas resident Ellen Jones, was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said.

Authorities described the vehicle as a dark gray Hyundai or Mazda four-door sedan.
