Sarah Palin’s candidacy represents to me the official dumbing down of American expectations. She is not representative of average Americans; she and her husband are among that special group of elitists who think they are better than the rest of us by virtue of living in a small town and successfully hoodwinking their neighbors.
If it’s not clear now, it will become clear if she and John McCain are elected. Apparently the loss of respect around the world is not enough; now we seek the buffoon factor. The very fact that she can be considered a serious candidate shows how low we have sunk as a nation. If she were black or Hispanic she would be vilified.
