Greene's Take: UNLV's leader in assists a year ago, Bellfield has had a knack for scoring at just the right time, especially in big games. He's delivered clutch buckets against Louisville in wins each of the last two seasons and also hit a crucial game-tying 3-pointer in the team's loss to Northern Iowa in the first round of last year's NCAA tournament. He finished last season hobbled by a knee bruise that never got a chance to heal fully during the busy season. He was a 37.2 percent 3-point shooter a year ago, and that number is key now that he'll have to help fill the void left by missing long-range guns Matt Shaw and Kendall Wallace.

UNLV Career: Bellfield enters his third season as a Runnin' Rebel in 2010-11 ... Has started 55 games and played in 66 total for his career ... Has averages of 7.8 points and 4.1 assists per game ... Has scored in double figures in 23 games.

Sophomore (2009-10): Earned honorable mention for the 2009-10 All-Mountain West Conference team ... Started all 34 of UNLV's games ... Led the team and was second in the MWC in assists with 4.8 per game ... His assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.5 was tops in the league ... Was third on the team in scoring with 9.3 ppg ... Shot 40.5 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from 3-point range and 71.9 percent from the free-throw line ... Scored in double figures 16 times and handed out at least five assists in a game 16 times ... Led UNLV in scoring in seven games and rebounding twice ... Poured in a career-high 22 points in a win over in-state rival Nevada, Reno, making 8-of-12 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line ... Scored 17 points in a win over then-No. 16 Louisville ... Had a stretch in December in which he reached double-figure scoring in five straight games and seven of eight ... Nearly posted a double-double with nine assists and eight points at BYU ... Handed out a career-high 10 assists and did not commit a turnover in 34 minutes against Air Force (one of five games in which he did not commit a turnover - he had nine other games in which he turned the ball over just once) ... Had nine assists with just two turnovers in the MWC Tournament semifinal win over BYU ... Scored 13 points and dished out five assists in UNLV's NCAA Tournament first round game against Northern Iowa ... Made at least one 3-pointer in 26 games, including 12 straight from November-January.

Freshman (2008-09): Played in all 32 games, including starting 21 at the point guard position as a rookie ... Led the team with 108 assists (3.4 apg), which was seventh in the MWC and tops among league freshmen ... Had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.83, which was fourth in the league and the best among MWC freshmen ... Averaged 6.2 points per game and also had 30 steals, which was third on the team ... Shot 37.2 percent from the field, 32.9 percent from 3-point range and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line ... Scored in double figures seven times ... Debuted with 13 points, six assists and three steals against San Diego ... Scored a then-career-high 17 points on the road at Nevada, Reno, hitting five 3-pointers ... Handed out a then-career-high eight assists and added 11 points against Southern Utah ... Turned in perhaps the team's play of the year when he hit a leaning lay-up with 16 seconds left to lift UNLV to a 56-55 victory over No. 18 Louisville at Freedom Hall on New Year's Eve ... Finished the game against the Cardinals with eight points and four assists.

High School: A 2008 graduate of Westchester High School in Los Angeles ... Led the Comets to a 29-5 record his senior season, including the city semifinals and the state quarterfinals ... Averaged 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals per game ... Named first team all-city ... Coached by Ed Azzam ... Played for the U.S. Select team that participated against national youth squads from other countries in a tournament in Germany in 2008 ... Was ranked as a top-100 player (among high school seniors) in the country according to Clark Francis, who writes for Hoop Scoop and Basketball Times.
