I hear ya passrusher but the thing that Hauck understands that Sanford didn't is that you put your best players on the field all the time. Right now Randle is No.1 on the depth chart for a reason, he is out-producing all backs on this team consistantly. This is about winning games & getting to a bowl game.

You're right the defense is the question. I think they will be much improved under Hauck & Paulson. Paulson runs an attack scheme on defense that hopefully puts players in position to make plays. Again I think we will see a lot of personnel changes on this side of the ball. I dont see the same 11 guys starting from last years team. Definately going to be an interesting season for UNLV football.

I like everyone else am excited for once about Rebel football. Not too sure what to expect but this team has quite a few talented plyers at the skill positions. If they can play consistant quarters in games UNLV might surprise the MWC.
The balanced offense will feature down hill running & blocking. I suspect randle to take the starting job sometime this season & if not, be certain he will get plenty of touches. Trotter is a hard runner but he runs straight ahead & is one dimensional. Cox is coming into his own and is a little more balanced then Trotter but Randle is the total package, speed, power, leg drive, field vision, elusiveness, & heart.

I expect to see a disciplined football team under Hauck, not a bunch of missed assignments, missed tackles, & definately no quitting in the middle of games. I was never impressed with Sanfords offense either it was always one dimensional. Whenever Trotter was running hard & gaining positive yards they would shut him down the rest of the game, never understood the play calling. We should see much more ball control & a balanced attack this year. I actually think UNLV is going to win some games they shouldn't this year, my guess is Wisconsin, BYU, or maybe even West Virginia. Im expecting a competitive team that doesn't tank it in and plays with controlled aggression for 4 quarters. We'll begin to see the true identity of this team around the or 4th or 5th week.

Not saying this is right but if Masoli wants to come to UNLV he will be on the field next year behind center criminal record or not. There is no way the Rebels pass over a QB who was in the Heisman bubble last year & won the Pac-10 title behind several stellar individual perfomances. Criminal or not every coach feels that they can turn a player straight under their tutelage. If Masoli ends up at Sam Boyd he will unseat Clayton & Clausen for the starting job. I dont necessarily agree that this is the best move but this is the way it is, much is overlooked if you can ball.

I just find it too hard to believe that Tre would throw away his collegiate career and possibly his professional career doing something so stupid. I really doubt that he would do that. Granted if he is guilty then he should receive the same punishment that the rest of us would get but on the flip side there are too many holes already and I just dont see enough evidence to convict Tre at this point. As long as there is still reasonable doubt how can he be found guilty? Either way this case goes it is not good for UNLV. Put the basketball aside for a minute these are real people who will be affected by this for many years to come and that is the important thing.

I dont know if Tre is guilty but he is guilty of horrible judgment. This is just a thought if someone is choking you with both hands how can you repeatedly ask them to stop choking you? You can make a person unconscious in 4-5 seconds with a choke hold and you definately cannot speak due to the force of the choke. Why should he be suspended if he is innocent? Why should he be suspended during the legal process? He should continue with the team until this is settled in the courts. Why punish a man beofre his time if he is innocent? The legal (judicial) system is favored towards women the second they cry foul the man is automatically guilty with or without evidence, not right..

If the rebels begin to win, the local recruits will start to come. Most want to go abroad, and experience college life away from home but some want to stay local. The first order at hand is to start winning games and stay in every game, no more blowouts to anyone on the schedule. If that can happen and coach Hauck continues to show his face on local campuses some local players will strongly consider staying home and playing for a winner IMO.

The reason certain schools can consistantly fill their roster every year with blue chippers is because they always have spots to fill for those who are NBA bound. Kentucky is losing 4 starters that will be drafted in the 1st round. Coach Cal will just reload with 4 more NBA caliber players to fill that void.

This is not the end of UNLV basketball. I'm sure all of us would have loved to see Loyd at the T&M but lest face it this wouldn't be his team for another 3 years and Oregon is his team right away. Bottom line playing time is the thing that matters most to any player, it means more then playing at a prestigeous or historical university for 9 out of 10 recruits. If losing 3 recruits happens at the end of next year, then yes we need to be concerned but this will in no way detour this current squad for the next season to come.

Rebel fans dont be surprised if we pick up some great recruits at the end of next season to fill the vacant spots. I can promise you kruger will land a PG to work under Oscar for his final season.
