What is there to feel sorry for? He has a clearly established pattern of financial mismanagement and overspending...fairly typical, just scaled up a bit. The only 'special consideration' he should receive is an expedient resolution for his creditors.

All the talk above suggests addressing the symptom, not the cause: Individuals reproducing with out the ability, tools or resources to raise a child as a minimally acceptable citizen.

There will always be loads of morons having kids and raising them poorly, by any standard...and there is no way to stop them, practically speaking. And as a member of society, clearly it's going to have some cost to deal with this. The trick is to minimize it...

How about this, if you're in prison (male or female) we'll give you 6 months off your sentence if you agree to be sterilized. Now that could produce some results!
